Attaching Quantum SDLT220 to a running E220R

Quick question. Can I attach a Quantum SDLT220 to an external
Differential SCSI interface on a running E220R? I seem to remember
doing this with an A1000, but I thought I would make sure that this can
be done before I attempt it.
After connecting it, how would I get the OS to see the device? Is it
the usual disks, drvconfig, and devlinks command sequence?
Thanks for any advice, and I will summarize.
